The remarkable scientific achievements in recent centuries alongside the invaluable contribution of basic and applied research in the physical and biological sciences have decisively contributed to improve social wellbeing, but It should be understood that the humanities and social sciences have always been at the heart of this improvement which justifies the allocation of more resources in research and formation.
